Such reflexion, on the part of a new Christian consciousness, leads us directly to a rediscovery of our origins and what it means to think theologically in a time of social and cultural disintegration.

Today, the new consciousness taking shape around us calls upon us to continue the revolution….At the heart of this…is a new Christian consciousness, a consciousness taking form as it discovers and responds to God….the creator of heaven and earth, the God of mystery and power The Lord of history reveals himself to us through a humble carpenter of Nazareth, belonging to a people who have no part in the great world of nations.

I believe this new consciousness is already a reality among men and women of faith….this new Christian Consciousness is a historical consciousness, it demands the language of theology be a historical language, but also a new language. Our willingness to move beyond old formulations opens the door to richer and more profound understanding of the Christian story.
